THE SWEETSPOTTER Available for rental or purchase! Up until now there has not been a simple method for the treatment of single barrels of wine at your facility. This all changed with the development of the Sweetspotter. Developed in association with D'Vine Intervention, the Sweetspotter is a simple to use nanofiltration based system that can be operated by the winemaker or cellar staff for the removal of volatile acidity, 4EP/4EG and Smoke Taint from 1-5 barrel lots. The membranes and resins used in the Sweetspotter are the same as those used in the mobile VA reduction equipment. The key difference between the small system and our full scale system is the removal rate per pass through the system. Our large system does 30% removal on a pass. The Sweetspotter removes 7-8% per pass. The system uses a patented energy recovery device for the pressurization of the incoming wine to the required pressure in order to generate permeate. The net result of this energy recovery device is a low net energy input resulting in no net increase in the temperature of the wine in the barrel. Even after 6 hours of re-circulating in a barrel, the temperature of the wine is kept fairly constant. Developed in 2004 and extensively tested and improved in our workshops, the Sweetspotter has been designed with the small winemaker in mind that has not had the luxury of treating, on his own, just a single barrel of wine. The systems are available for rental or to purchase.
Technical specifications for the rental models are as follows: Note : The SS2-1-6 has been discontinued. All rental system now available generate 10-12 gal/hr of permeate.

LARGER SWEETSPOTTER SYSTEMS The latest creation by VA Filtration is the SS4-4-40. A system capable of delivering 40 gal/hr of permeate based on the same technology as the Sweetspotter. It is pictured below. The system has the same ease of use as the smaller units, but is capable of processing larger volumes. It can be used for the following:
SWEETSPOTTER OPERATING MANUAL Please click the link below to download the operating manual for the SS4-1-10 and the SS4-2-20. TRIALS The Sweetspotter can be used to carry out trials on single barrel lots to check for changes in wine expected after VA or 4EP/4EG reduction. This can be especially helpful when trying to bulk out a large lot of wine that has a potential VA or Brett problem. Just treat a single barrel and when the wine is ultimately sold, invest the money to treat the entire volume. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
